We set up the chance for a student to get involved with a very large and friendly family in La Calera, Chile working in a small nursery school teaching English.

Travelling abroad alone can be one of the most daunting experiences, and with Gap Chile we try to make the transition from home to abroad as stress free as possible. We have English speaking assistance both in England and in the school itself so new students don't feel completely at a loss! Each student can request their own requirements whether it's their own Spanish tutor, their own guide or even someone to take them to different places at the weekend.

Gap Chile works with a newly built nursery school - London International Academy - which teaches children aged 2-5 years old. This school believes in the idea of learning through play and implements this in their teaching process.

Gap Chile is also closely linked to Elisa Educational Trust, Charity Registered in England: 1104648. This charity tries to help as many university students as possible by offering sponsorships for underprivileged students. All proceeds are donated to keeping this nursery school running (providing the chance for free education for some disadvantaged young children and jobs for local residents) as well as helping students continue into further education.

Who are they and what do they do?

Clare and Claudio Duran
Claudio was born and bred in La Calera Chile, moved to England when he met his wife Clare who had been working as a welfare nurse in Chile in 1985. They both set up Elisa Education Trust (named after Claudio's mother). They then went on to set up The London International Academy in 2008 so they could help improve education for the younger student.

Maria Duran Marambio
Maria is the housekeeper and mother hen to all the English students in Chile.

Who are they and what do they do?

Andrea Lillo Delgado
Andrea studied to become a Pedagogia en Ingles (an English Teacher). She finished her education this year and is now working.

Sabina Duran Chaparro
Sabina just finished studying Ingenieria y administración de Turismo y Hoteleria (Tourism) at University. She is currently working in her local College.

Nayareth Olivares
Nayareth has been studying to become a Vet and has one more year to go.

Karen Aranda
Karen studied to become a Beautician. She finished her qualification last year and now works in a Hotel in Vina del Mar.

All of the students have been funded by Elisa Education Trust with their student fees.
